The X Family Foundation is a proud supporter of the South Florida Fragile X Clinic at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine (SFFXC). The SFFXC, under the direction of Dr. Deborah Barbouth, sees patients from birth to adult with Fragile X Syndrome, including Fragile X related issues likes FXTAS (Fragile X Tremor Ataxia Syndrome) and FXPOI (Fragile X-associated Primary Ovarian Insufficiency). There is also a new specialty clinic at the University of Miami dedicated to adults with special needs. For appointments, or for information about the clinic, please contact Rena Pressman, Clinic Coordinator at 305-243-6006 or via email at rpressman@med.miami.edu.
The SFFXC is one of 31 clinics in the United States dedicated to treating those affected by Fragile X Syndrome. It is part of the Fragile X Clinical and Research Consortium. The SFFXC is a multi-disciplinary clinic that includes specialists in Genetics, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and an Educational and Assistive Technology Specialist.
